Both Arts, One Week: How Indio Members Train Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu Together

October 8, 2026

A Muay Thai coach in black Flow Academy no-gi gear holds Thai pads for an adult woman throwing a jab while an older member wraps his hands at the edge of the mat in an empty room at Flow Academy BJJ Indio.

It’s the second week of October, the Coachella Valley evenings have finally let go of the triple digits, and school routines have settled in. This is the week our front desk hears the same question over and over: can I do Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu, and what does that week actually look like?

Plenty of our members do both. Here’s how it fits together on our mats.

The Adult Week, Night by Night

Adult Muay Thai is Monday and Wednesday at 7 PM with Coach Adrian. The jiu-jitsu classes sit on the nights in between:

  • Monday 7 PM: Muay Thai
  • Tuesday 7 PM: No-Gi jiu-jitsu
  • Wednesday 7 PM: Muay Thai
  • Thursday 7 PM: Gi jiu-jitsu

Nobody asks the same thing of their body two nights running. Monday is pads, footwork, kicks and knees, and you leave with tired shoulders and a sweat-soaked shirt. Tuesday is slower and more about position, and members tell us the change of pace is part of why the combination feels doable instead of draining.

Where Striking and Grappling Meet

Friday at 6:30 PM is Adult MMA, the one class where both halves share a room. Members who already train both tend to find Friday easy to follow, because they’ve seen each piece on its own first.

Saturday gives you a looser option. Open Mat runs 9 to 11, MMA training follows from 11 to 12, and the doors are open the whole stretch. It’s a good morning to revisit whatever felt rough during the week.

Kids Can Alternate Too

Youth Muay Thai for ages 6 to 9 meets Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6 PM. Kids Jiu-Jitsu for ages 6 to 9 meets Tuesday and Thursday in that same 5 to 6 PM hour. Parents get one drop-off time, four afternoons a week, and a kid who’s on the pads Monday is rolling on the mat Tuesday.

At ten, both programs move to 6 PM. Youth Muay Thai stays pad work with no sparring, so the Muay Thai side is the same controlled technique we describe to every parent.

If You’re Adding the Second One

Start small. If you’ve been in Muay Thai for a while and you’re curious about the mats, try one jiu-jitsu night, not both, and see how Wednesday feels after Tuesday. Drink water earlier in the day than you think you need to, since the room still warms up quickly in early October.

Muay Thai at Flow Academy Indio is $125, $145 or $165 a month depending on whether you sign for 12 months, 6 months or go month to month, and uniforms aren’t included. Jiu-jitsu has its own published rates, so ask us about training in both and we’ll walk you through it.

Your first class is free. Come by 42425 Jackson Street, Suite C112, or call or text (951) 337-3781. You can read about the adult Muay Thai class or the youth program first, or just show up on a Monday at 7.
