Kid at 6, You at 7: A Muay Thai Night in Indio
October 22, 2026
Late October in Indio has its own rhythm. The heat has finally let go, the light is gone a little earlier every evening, and the clocks go back on November 1. For a lot of families that squeezes the after-work, after-school stretch, and any plan that needs two separate trips across town is the first thing to fall off the calendar.
So here’s a night we see more and more at the front desk of our Jackson Street academy: a kid trains Muay Thai at 6, a parent trains at 7, and it’s one drive.
How Monday and Wednesday Line Up
Youth Muay Thai for ages 6 to 9 meets Monday and Wednesday at 5 PM, and ages 10 to 14 meet at 6 PM. Adults, 15 and up, train at 7 PM on those same nights. A 10-to-14-year-old’s class ends just as the adult class begins, so you can bring your kid in for 6, wrap your hands on the bench by the mat, and be warming up at 7. If your child is in the 6-to-9 group, there’s an hour between their class and yours, and it’s worth asking us at the front desk how other families handle it.
What’s Different for Each of You
Coach Adrian leads both classes, and both run about an hour: warm-up, the technique of the day, pad work and partner drills, then a cool-down. The kids’ class is built around footwork, balance and pads, with no sparring to start. The adult class has the same bones, with real technique, honest conditioning and a team-first room.
Our coaches like to say the ride home gets more interesting when both people have something to compare. Which combination felt strange, whose footwork finally clicked, who’s sorer on Thursday morning.
And if you’re the parent who has spent years on the sideline of someone else’s practice, holding the water bottle and checking your phone, this is the night you’re the one on the mat. Nobody expects you to look like a fighter on day one. You’ll learn a stance, hit a pad, and get the same kind, specific corrections your kid got an hour earlier. That’s a different kind of Monday than most weeks hand you.
Starting From Zero
No experience is needed, and new students work at their own pace from day one. Your first class is free, and gloves and wraps are ours to lend, so there’s nothing to buy beforehand. After that, Muay Thai is $125, $145 or $165 a month per student, depending on whether you sign for 12 months, 6 months or go month to month. Uniforms aren’t included.
Stop by on a Monday or Wednesday, or call or text (951) 337-3781. You can read about the youth Muay Thai program first, and the adult class has its own page too.
