Five Things We Ask You to Tell Us Before the First Thursday

October 27, 2026

A woman instructor in a black Flow Limitless tee crouches at the edge of a blue mat and looks at a phone held by a seated father in a grey sweater, while a barefoot child in a black Flow Limitless ATHLETE tee stands seen from behind facing a sunlit window at Flow Academy BJJ Indio.

It’s the last week of October in Indio. Pumpkins are on the porches, costume talk fills the pickup line, and school routines have settled enough that families are asking what to add on Thursday afternoons. A parent thinking about Flow Limitless usually has plenty of questions for us. We have a few for you too, and we’d like to hear the answers before the first Thursday.

A Short Text Is Plenty

Call or text (951) 337-3781 before you come. A few lines is enough; it doesn’t have to be organized or complete. Coach Zaide reads those notes before Thursday, so she isn’t guessing when your child walks in. Here is what we ask about, and what the room looks like for each one.

Sounds

Which sounds bother your child, and which ones help? We keep the music low and the class calm, but a loud clap, a door or another child’s voice can still land hard for some students. If we know ahead of time, we’re watching for it instead of finding out in the middle of class.

Changes

How does your child handle a switch from one activity to the next? Every class opens with a circle and a first game, and the drills change from there. Some kids move through that easily. Others need to hear what comes next. Tell us which kind yours is.

Touch

Some drills use a partner and some don’t. Coaches adjust the grip, the pace, the number of steps and how much contact there is, so tell us what your child is comfortable with and what they definitely aren’t.

Breaks and a Comfort Object

If your child needs a minute, stepping off to the side of the mat is expected here, and the group keeps going. Tell us how breaks usually go at home or at school, and whether there’s an object that goes everywhere with them. We’d much rather hear about it beforehand than find out on the mat.

If your child uses a wheelchair, say so too. Students who use a wheelchair train with us in Indio, and the padded mat is a logistics conversation, never a barrier. Some students transfer onto it, some work at its edge, and nobody is asked to leave their chair. Call us and we’ll talk through what taking part looks like.

And You Can Stay

Parents and caregivers are welcome for the whole class, with seating right by the mat. If your child does better with you on the mat beside them, say so when you arrive and we’ll make it work. Coming only to watch the first Thursday is a normal start too.

The Practical Part

Flow Limitless at Indio is for ages 6–17, Thursdays 4:15–5:00 PM, once a week, with Coach Zaide, at 42425 Jackson Street, Suite C112. The first class is free. After that it’s $150 a month, month-to-month, with 15% off a second child in the same household and 20% off a third. A child with a disability is always welcome in our standard kids and youth classes at the standard price, with reasonable accommodations at no extra charge.

This is martial arts instruction, not therapy. The rest of the detail lives on the Flow Limitless program page, or you can just call us.
